The 75gal reef tank cycle has started!!!!!!!

RO unit (I have 2, but never hooked them up)quote

I heard that you needed some extra storage room in your home. I'm happy to take those units off your hands to help you out. Won't even charge you. Shoot, maybe I'll pay for shipping. I'm just like that. Generous.:grinno:

Ack! Not that photo again. Are you thinking you have an isopod? Knock on wood I've never run across one in my tank.

Yes I do. i saw it the first night we got the first bunch of rock and now again last night. I also scooped out another one of those flat worm things tonight about 15min ago. I'm hoping that it will die before we put the fish in.

I'm sure you would! I don't know why he doesn't hook one of them up. I would hate to have to go and get the amount of water that we go threw. Just today we went threw 11gal. I would say in a week we go threw 9gal with no water changes in any of the four tanks. we haven't really done water changes on all the tank in the same week but if we did it would be around about 34 gals with top off for that week. Between the gas to get it, the work to move it, and the cost of buying it an RO/DI is so worth it.

Our Coco worm has been staying in it's tube a lot over the last 2 days. Is this normal? We have been spot feeding it Cyclopeze and Oyster eggs. Is there something else we should try to mix it up a bit?

Small tank Woodright.. that is the only reason.. but that is changing Monday. I got my anemone/clown evicted yesterday and while my tank seems a little "bare" at the moment, all my other fish are in heaven because they can now swim all over. The anemone was pretty much taking an entire 1/3 of my tank.

But anyway.. can you post the link again to where you got your RO unit? I really don't wanna mess with the ones I have because I have no idea the condition, even though I was told one was brand new. I have heard a few horror stories with bad RO units, ripped membranes, etc. So come monday.. it will be alright.. oops.. sorry, Jimmy Buffet song stuck in my head.. LOL. Anyway, Monday I am ordering my 57G custom tank and was going to order the same RO unit you bought. :)

Here you go Ace. RO/DI

Wood, they are filter feeders, I'd definitely use micro sized filter food for them. Not sure how you are target feeding by the way but you want to let the food go slightly under their crown so that it can filter up through their feathers.

We are useing a syringe and blowing it all around the crown. Then we just put the rest into the water so that everything else can catch or filter it.

Exactly what she said. I just read on wetwebmedia that they eat Phytoplankton, so looks for something along those lines. I use Reef Nutrition PhytoFeast myself, but there are many brands of phyto out there. It seems zooplex/chromaplex food is still too big for feather dusters.

I have been squirting a little bit of zooplankton and a few morsels of Cyclop-eeze into the Coco worm's tube every other day.
<<I would not do this as these foods are mostly too large (requires very small/microscopic fare) and the action is only stressing the worm more.>>

Thanks for the link!

Would anyone know what the gestation period for a Sexy Shrimp is. We have a pair and one of them is with baby's. When we got them they were doing you know what in the bag while floating in the tank. We got them on March 11th. That means it has been 18 days so far. Any ideas?
