The AC hitchhiker ID thread (now thumbnailed)

I caught this hitchhiker crab several months ago using a pickle jar trap. Saw it one night eating my leather, so I knew it had to go. Not sure what type it is, but it was evil (as you can tell from those eyes).

I noticed this climbing up some live rock last night. Any idea what this crab or crab-like creature is? (resolution is poor but perhaps the shape of its carapace offers clues)

Some kind of little majid crab, related to emerald crabs and spider crabs. Almost looks like a decorator. It may be OK, maybe not.

i got some weird worm stuck in my filter, and when i touched it, it flashed flourecent blue down its body
Very cool. I have never seen anything like it.

Thanks for the tip Dave. Unfortunately - just my luck - Bill Rudman of the Sea Slug form is heading out of town and has decided to stop accepting new messages until he returns in October!! :duh:

I managed to get the batteries charged and snapped off some better pics:

The full set of new pics are here on my Flickr site.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!! If he's a good guy, I'd like to get him back in the tank asap.

Thanks again!

With the better pic, it looks like a Dorid nudibranch. Well-developed rhinophores and it looks like there's a separation between the mantle and the foot.

Unfortunately, I am not Bill R, so I can't tell you what species it is. Dorids tend to be specialist feeders, each having a particular sponge, tunicate or maybe coral species it feeds on. The upshot is that it will either starve or eat something you don't want it to.

Best I can do. Maybe someone else will have a better idea.

I got this sponge:

(also, what are the little yellow things on the rock in the background)
It's been alive over a month or two now, although recently a large section on the bottom of the rock died off. Any tips on how to get it to fluorish... (I've been adding phytoplankton, but it's expensive and if it's not necessary it'd be nice to not have to buy it).

Also, this little goby-fish....

He was cool so I brought home another that looks exactly like him but with a pattern, the new one is picking at my snails and I'm not sure what he/they will do with corals when I get them in there....

imma try this again.

I still have no idea what this guy is, not to worried though. Seems to be pretty easy to capture.

Any ideas? Again? lol

Here's some more. I pretty much had to black out the room to get him to come out of the LR. A red scarlett crab just passed him and he did nothing, he just pics at the LR.
