This week has been hell with my new tank.

First my brand new heater died, then my sand was poisonous.

Now.....

I tonight added new hoses to my fluval 304 (clear ones)

I was feeling all proud that I did it myself
And walked away to pour a celebratory drink.

I came back and heard a more water than usual sound from the stand I open the door and water literally shot in the face with water.

The intake hose had popped off the aqua-stop (due to my improper screwing) and was pouring water into my stand (my brand new custom made stand)
It was filled to the brim of the doors (nearly 8 gallons of water) and was submerging my power strips.

Oh. And flooding my new carpet..

I have spent the last 4 hours and every towel in my house cleaning this up.

It doesn’t help that my green hair dripped green all down my face and I look like the incredible hulk right now.

I think I’m going to have someone double check my plumbing from now on.

here is my new tank minus the hood from last week. Just because I am so in love.

Sorry about your tank and the filter. And I want to know why your hair is green too. Just curious.

your a sad,sad little person....
I had to clean up 50 gals when my friend left the hose on

Cool Tank. What is going in it?

and please tell us about the green hair.

I think most everyone that has had tanks for a while can share some stories about water spills. I am just glad I own lots of towels.

Many of us at one time have done something similar.

Just like riding a motorcycle..you come to grips with the inevitable.

"it's not a matter of if..it's a matter of when"

My stepson has had blue hair, yellow hair, red hair and after dying just about everything in the house including my futon..has decided that natural was better for him.

i thought you all would like my pain. my jack dempsey will be its only occupant for quite a while. he is wayyy to big for a 55.

LOL, as for my hair, well i'm a Mermaid

(actually, im a hair extensionist/wig maker, im a walking advertisment for my business)
and i too turn everything i touch green..

im having this problem now where i dont know if im starting to get hair algae or if its just my hair in the tank....

what was up with the sand?

just a little :OT: i flooded my kitchen once. i wanted to clean the sink so i plugged it up, ran the water, added some oxy clean, then forgot about it. it wasn't until my dog started barking at the kitchen and then came running back to me soaking wet that i realized what was going on. i used every towel in my house to clean up the mess. don't know how many gallons it was but it sure was a lot! i just hope i don't do it with the tank!
