Has anyone ever ordered the package from Tampa Bay Saltwater Live Rock through mail order? If this is half as good as they say maybe it is a good thing???? just curious :)

Many here have, and yes, it is! Lots of good feedback from a number of people, with some great pics, if you seach on TBS.

Thanks for the input as it is quite an outlay at first but they do supply a lot of the cleaning crew needed and it looks to be a convenient way. Here live rock can set you back up to $10/lb cured. They ship by air freight the rock to you in water which to me sounds much more reliable. Expensive but better all round. Thanks again.......

Lorna,

I live close enough to pick up my TBS LR in person. I've seen them putting together the packages and watching them prep everything for shipping is amazing!! Trust me when I tell you they do everything humanly possible to insure customer satisfaction, quick shipping and excellent product.

One thing to consider though..........

Much of the "stuff" that's attached to the LR will die off or recede over time. Others will grow very well. I've found that after 6 months my LR looks much diffferent that it did when I first got it. The small white/pink amemones can often get quite large and move around the tank. Some stay small and stay in one place. You also must consider hitchhikers. I would spend quite a bit of time, poking and cleaning as best as you can before you put it in your tank. Right now I have a mantis shrimp in my nano along with about 20 hairy legged crabs. Little by little, I'm removing the crabs. The mantis shimp is going to have to go as well. On the other hand, I also have some nice small star fish and some other interesting critters.

All considered, I'm very happy with TBS.

Does anyone use Marshall LR? I just saw some up at a LFS outside Pittsburgh and the stuff was spotless. I saw no evidence whatsoever of aptasia or any other negatives hitchhikers on any of it. Gary, the guy who owns the shop said he gets about 300lbs at a time and it has always been spotless. It's a little more expensive, but for the peace of mind worth it to me.
