I tell ya what, I tried mot to let myself get a python, but i finally did, man it was the best mve i have made so far

Aye, for any tank over 50 gallons it is a must!

i am pretty new to the hobbie, but from what i can tell are pythons just a hose that hook up to a faucet and use the fast velocity to create a low pressure stream in the hose to suck up water from the tank or is it more than that? i was thinking of going to a hardware store and picking up a hose and some three way seperaters and creating my own faucet-syphon contraption which would hook up to the faucet and utilize the low pressure to suction the water out of my tank for water changes.

You can do it even eaiser by going to wal mart and purchaseing a water bed drain and fill kit for $4 and attaching a drinking water hose to it. The Shiphon thing that attaches to the sink is exactly the same. If you read it the companys name is on both the one that comes with the python and the water bed one only difference is the color. Im not sure how you would make a gravel vac attachment though. I bought the origanl python but have bought 2 of the water bed things cause I keep breaking them.

I also love the python. I could never have multiple tanks if it wasnt for it. I spend about an hour and a half doing water changes now and I drain about 75-80% of the water.

So in using the python a lot of excess water goes down the drain while you syphon the water out of the tank yes?

If so, I find that quite a disgusting waste of water... One that I simply cannot do since my city is in the worst drought on record and we are on level 3 (soon to be level 4) water restrictions (basically, our water supplies are nearing 25% of capacity).

Ahhhhh!!! The White Trash Tank...... I will Unveil it upon completion, give me about 2 weeks..... lol.....cinder blocks.......I was thinkin beer barrell..... Anyone else with ideas please dont hesitate to drop a reply giving me some thought on it
