couldnt care less about facebook or twitter but not my aquariacentral! lol but seriously there would probably be some giant problems if they tried to shut down sites like that.. and to stop online sales? I really doubt that will ever happen. I can understand them trying to shut down actual sites like thepiratebay but whats the point of the other sites, and online retailed would put many companies out of business.

The GoDaddy domain exodus has been awesome. I've watched that from the start. If I had any domains with them I would have transferred them myself. The Paul Ryan thing has been cool too. Wikimedia said they were moving their servers, but it would take some time logistically.

The NDAA amendment of 2012 scares the crap out of me. Bye bye constitutional rights. I can't believe it passed. I will not be voting for anyone who supported it next election.

I think Godaddy isn't too worried yet, seing how they have close (or more than) 50 million domains under their belt, however, if Wiki would leave, and if Google would follow suit, it would be HUGE!

only time will tell!

I think this is a reflection of the left's desire to curtail the sharing of news items that the main stream media does not like to publish. Whatever. I pretty much use my FB account exclusively to share news links and participate in discussions about important political situations. Lots of "friends" who share along things I share and I really feel the internet is a big factor in some people becoming more informed than MSNBC (for example) ever intented for them to be.

Anyone that thinks Facebook shutting down would cause an outcry is just fooling themselves. They'd just start another type of social site but it will be government run. They want to control EVERY aspect of your life. Even the mandatory seat belt law is unconstitutional.

Anyone I'm facebook friends with here knows who I'm voting for, and he will repeal all this crap.

Wish it was just the lefts desire....the PA was put in place by the right....

And both only let the media show what they want shown.

It's not a left vs. right issue. It's censorship and oppression from the US federal government. Doesn't matter what party affiliation they are, both major parties support it.

The US has been on a course of teaching the masses only what they want them to know, for many, many decades. The censorship of the internet is no more more of an interest to the public at large, that the Constitution and American History currently are. The "I can't be bothered, I am too busy, I can't do anything about so I won't bother to vote" apathy is what Congress is counting on. The lobbyists and other PAC's own Congress. Of course Congress is going to vote according who pays them the most. It is only when our particular interests are jeopardized that we speak up as evidenced by those that stated "I don't care about FB but I do care about AC". People need to learn to care whether if affects them directly or not.

The US district court in Denver has upheld that Oklahoma does not have the right to block Sharia laws even though 70% of the voting public stated they don't want Sharia law as a judicial process. So, in all honesty, how many of you non-Oklahoma residents even care about it? These are the types of things shows how little the public cares when it isn't about them, and yet we allow our politicians and elected/appointed judicial representatives to counter the will of the majority to provide for a minority special interest.

We need to get back to the OP's topic and away from politics in general..thanks.

And while you're at it Travis, put aside a few evenings to actually read the US Constitution. It's a truly amazing document.

You know, you have an interesting way of pissing people off when you say stuff... Just makes people want to punch you I'm sure. And if you want someone to do something, it's not a good idea to insult them when you tell them to do it.

Anyone that thinks Facebook shutting down would cause an outcry is just fooling themselves. They'd just start another type of social site but it will be government run. They want to control EVERY aspect of your life. Even the mandatory seat belt law is unconstitutional.

For the mandatory seatbelt... do you honestly think it's a bad law, or unwarranted? They invented the seat-belt for a reason, and I personally don't think that there is anything wrong with saying you need to use it. Sheesh, next you'll say that laws against driving when drunk are unconstitutional too... and they probably are, if you go by the constitution and only the constitution...

So, I've read the Constitution, and all in all I'd have to say that it and the ideals it stood for died many years ago. We're just walking down a road we've already taken.
