Hmmmm..interesting subject...Dont really know about FW fish et cetera...But with marine fish, it bolsters the immune system and aid finiky fish to start feeding..Still yet to find any conclusive proof that garlic cures parasitic infections, like some people say...

To recap, garlic's use as an appetite stimulant is questionable at best. It seemed to have a positive effect when injected into fish that were infected with a bacterium.
Yes, i have read that article many times ( know it before i even open it )..Its a very interesting read, however, does not make the subject conclusive for me to use garlic to fight parasites.
One point i would like to draw to your attention on that article is right at the end, in the summary section..
.....injected into the fish....now then, thats a little bit different than what the average aquarist can or would do...so...i can see this from a few different aspects...
