I know from lurking that when folks tank about a themed tank they are usually talking about having one species of fish as a centerpiece.

I sort of just stumbled on the idea with my second tank... I chose a more cool color gravel theme and got some Mickey Mouse Platies. I was thinking of getting fire colored fishes (reds, oranges, yellows) to make it a "fire tank".

I was wondering if anyone else has done the same.

Cool idea. :) I have a "pink" tank, 5 gallon hex with pink fake plants, pink brigg, and pink ramshorns. And soon some RCS that are kinda pink, right?

My wife... as much as she refuses to be drawn into the aquarium I have now- used to keep fish in her college days and kept a "black and white" tank. Everything in the tank (and even the stand/lid/gravel etc) were black and white or black or white.

I know she had Mollies, and Albino Corydoras... I think she had tetra of some kind too.

I like that! You could do panda cories too, and penguin tetras! And an ivory brigg. I might have to steal that. ;)

I like the black and white Idea also...gets me wondering....

I just thought the fire theme would be cool... Idea I came up with at work was to keep all the decorations a laid back pale icey color (light blues, and whites), and try to print out a nice iceberg type background for the tank.... although I am not much into backgrounds.

Once I start working on the project I might need to switch a few fish from one tank to the other.

Some long fin blue danios would look gorgeous in that.

I like these idea for themes, my tanks are just random fish I like :).

For OP; you could try ember tetras, Red looking Gourami or Red Betta, and maybe Red colored Guppies?
BTW I think your tank would benefit from a background, it'll hide the cables hanging down. Also I recommend hiding the air line tubing by using a suction cup to keep the tube in place on the right side and that'll let you bury the tube more. That's how I have in my 20g tank :).

My dads 5 gallon hex is Radiation themed. It has little radiation barrels in it, and the gravel is black and lime green.
