I need to vent and get some opinions. I had an order of 32 mbunas scheduled to arrive today. It has taken weeks to prep for their arrival...cycling a tank, buying yet more rocks, moving fish around etc. I even have several other orders of plants and such arriving today just for the initial addition (suck up nutrients). I was up till 3am last night removing all the rocks and catching the extra fish in that tank.

So when I did not receive a "your order has been shipped" email yesterday I emailed them and they replied with "sorry your order wasn't shipped, would you like to schedule it for another day?" WHAT!? :swear: I am so mad!

Now I need the opinions! :) How would you handle this situation? They are a VERY reputable company. I have not been able to find a single person that has had an issue with them and trust me I have looked! But come on, how unprofessional is this!?

Call them and see if they will give you some kind of deal. Tell them why you are dissatisfied with their shipping issues. The last thing they want is a bad review from a customer. They will probably give you a credit for future purchases or discount on this shipment...etc...

You just need to demand they do something to make it right for you.

Did they explain why it wasn't shipped?
See if they have a reasonable explanation of why they didn't ship your order..

I'd give them a call, and see what happened, if they just forgot, or overlooked it, maybe you can get a discount or free shipping or something..
I mean other than your frustration, there was no real harm done right?

Accidents happen. Have you ever made a mistake? I would re-schedule and also let them know I was very disappointed by their over-sight.

As far as you having to stay up until 3a.m. to finish arranging for their arrival, that is your problem for not being organized, not theirs. When I buy/get fish, I do all I can as much as a week in advance to preclude last minute rush to get ready. Staying up late and rushing to be ready usually mean I over-looked something. I try to be ready anywhere from a week to a month in advance when possible. If I do a rescue, I already know where it will fit in or I don't accept it unless it is an emergency.

Harm done - Harm is pretty minimal but the plants/bacteria will suffer (I can't add them to tank without the new fish cause they will just end up killing off the extra bacteria instead of being helpful on top of the bacteria, I just don't know how to explain that), right now I have NO rocks in my fish tank & there is only 8 mbuna in there so the fish will suffer totally unneeded stress & my back is killing me from removing all those rocks! :silly:

Being up till 3am was not a rush last minute unprepared thing. I did it last minute on purpose to keep the bacteria in tack and because that is what THEY recommended to me, to do it as late as possible the night before.

plants arent going to kill your bacteria, in fact they will help absorb some of the Nitrates, and ammonia.. Are you worried that the plands will starve out the bacteria?

its a major bummer but it will all be ok.I would explain how disappoited you are about the service, and then rescedual. Remember its the Holiday season and everything is all jammed up,mail ,shipping and etc..

Yup that's it. Starve out the bacteria, thanks. :)

I was mad because I went through SO much preparing things trying to get everything so balanced but I do understand that mistakes happen, absolutely, especially this time of year. I'm over it already. Now that I am calm I will call them. :)

The owner, who I was originally speaking to, went out of town and the order was misplaced by his employee. I will get the fish tomorrow, no biggie. He said he could not believe how reasonable I was so on top of 1/2 price shipping he is also throwing in some freebies.

I always try to use anger as a last resort cause you get more positive responses from people when you're positive that is why I came here first, to calm down. :D Thanks!

Good stuff.. Glad to see you didn't resort to getting angry in the hopes of getting a good deal. Sometimes, using a positive respectful approach goes a long way.
