I have been thinking for some time to do a thread about my sidebar activities.

I have always been a big kid, with a zest for life because my mom taught me that LIFE IS IN THE LIVING OF IT!!!!

Whilst not a pack rat, I do have a very ecclectic taste of things that I collect. When I was younger I tried to follow the family route of going the military way. My dad was a underwater welder in the navy and served on the hms corwallis, my grandfather was a pilot who was downed in operation garden market in ww2. It seems that my family tree is routed in military all the way back to my heritage of irishmen who went to scotland to help route the english.

But, something within me could not quite click with being a mp in the canadian forces. So I terminated as soon as I could and went back to my first love the hospitality industry. Prior to join the military I did a year in the fashion industry as an understudy, but could not hack the unadulterated bs and falsehoods and plastic people.

So here we are years later and I just wanted to share some of the stuff I am passionate about outside of the pet hobby.

Though I do have to show off my wild caught saskatchewan goody that we have in our house.

I just remembered I have to take a picture of what I wanted to show ya :hitting: brb.

Even post-stroke I have many talents. I am not one to believe in "We do it this way because we have always done it this way" or when told "You can't".

Sweeet to hear bud , how ya doing? Great to see ya back in action how is your christmas goin so far?

Ok, so here we go, even though I am 6 ft 5 245 lbs I love my chinese crested dogs,

and they love us.

I love my collection of cabbage patch dolls, my kids have about 15 I have about 40. Here are 2 of my favourites, the rest are packed away right now. I will take pics when I bring them out.

I love my collection of toys and I have quite a few of them. The ones I am about to show you came to me in the coolest of fashion. The delightful hungarian baba that lived next door to us, had her husband pass away after a ill health battle and we did our best to make sure that she did not feel lonely from that point in time. It was so wonderful to watch her just sparkle when my kids would treat her as if she was their grandma! Over the next year or so she would bring treats for my kids and one day she dropped this box of little toys nothing special except for the one thing I picked up out of the box that just blew me away. So I put it up real high so my kids could not play with it since it was from 1958 and still worked perfect.

Then a few months later, I see them playing with it and I retrieve it from them thinking that one of them had gone monkey and climbed real high. So I went to put it back, and found out that it was a second of the very same toy. I just went sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.

Well saddly as it happens with couples who have been married for a long time, I think 54 years or so in this case. Grandma took ill very suddenly and passed like a shot out of a gun. I really think it was that she just lost the desire to live anymore since her house was their marriage home that her husband built for them. My kids still remember her very fondly.

Well fast forward to a year or so later, I take my kids to this garage sale that they had been to earlier and desperately wanted to take me to. Imagine my shock when in the kids sandbox is yet another of these toys in even better condition that the 2 I already had. So now, I have a trio of them and they rock I tell you!!!!

Here they are all the way from 1958, you push the pilot down and the spring loaded wheels propel it forward.

Now tell me these arn't cool!!!!

Well you never know what I am going to post up here, because this thread is all about things I love!!!!!

I have many hobbies--drawing, piano, photography, horse-back riding, but most people know about them and they are not that unique :)

So crimson, how many keys can you span? That is one thing I always wonder when I find out someone can play piano.

Haha! Do you play piano too? I have rather large hands for a girl...I guess it comes in handy when playing piano though. I can get 9--C to D without touching any other keys. I can get 10 C-E but I also have to play D in the process.

I'll have to gather some photos... but I like this thread, Chef!

Many people don't know that I was the featured acrobat in a tightrope act that toured with Ringling Bros. Circus, during the early '70s.

J/K.... but I do have some other interests that may be of interest. :D
I'll post later, I have to go shopping in a minute.

Whoa...the CPK thing really threw me a curve ball. I used to have a collection when I wa younger, had to give up all those things for space a long time ago thogh would like to get my daughters into it. My son has massive collections of a lot of things, I doubt he will be able to save any money.
Most of my hobbies I have either dropped due to being a mommy or have turned into business so are not hobbies anymore :(

I think that is way awesome. When it comes to piano I Glen Gould strikes forefront in my mind.

OH I have to share my most favourite song of all time, even when I was heavy into strange music you could find me cranking this one up to 10.
