Things you should have known, but just learned

turning on a heater for one tank.. only to find out you turned on a heater thats out of the tank and is laying on a plastic bag...

Lesson: label your wires so you know what you are turning on/off

I did that too. Seeing as the bag and the heater were inside the stand and out of sight it took me a while to figure out what the burning smell was.

That the E on my gas gauge does not mean "enough"...
When she says "no nothing's wrong" something usually is.
Algea grows phenomenonally well in direct sunlight!
Never put a silvini cichlid with ANY other fish.. RIP Y'all.. (sorry!)
And Most importantly...
Never tell a cop, "No officer, I dont know how fast I was going, the speedometer only goes up to 135." Yes I really did..

lmao told the bf about the "E is not enough" and "my speedometer only goes up to 135" and he was like 'yeah...been there...'

*just because others do short-cuts and are fine (putting male bettas together, never do water changes, etc) doesn't mean you can do it and not have massive die offs and feel really super bad
*you should always teach others in your household how to prime hob filters
*never pack your fish net before getting the fish out of the tank you're moving across town - also paired with - don't get mad at the bf who lovingly helped you out by packing your gravel vac so you would have less to do before moving the 28 gallon tank across town because you just said "don't pack the fish net this time" ( poor bf he felt so bad lol)
*don't make fun of the customers who take 20 minutes picking out the perfect zebra danio or you will become the crazy neon tetra lady (who luckily can net her own fish after taking 20 minutes to pick out just the right one)
*while there are no stupid questions, there are stupid people asking the questions

one timecompletley cleaned out my filter in my 45. also first time i used my python, i went into the kitchen to change it to fill, and when i came back it was on the floor shotting water everywhere!!!!!!

When emptying the water out of the python, a reverse suction can happen and water will go everywhere.

I did a massive pruning in my 75 gallon and took out over half the plants. I found out just how much plants outcompete algae for nutrients. Massive algae problem for over a month. I learned to prune more often and not take too many out at one time.
