I was able to save all of my sabwas! As I caught shrimp I just dumped them in the 20G shrimp tank which is directly below it so I am not sure how many I lost. I did find one little amano body. I can't believe I would cry over shrimp but I am so sad.
Nothing wrong with grieving over loss of life ... any life. Very sorry this happened. It's good you were home and could save your sabwas and at least some of the shrimp.
I'm so sorry this happened, Jacki. I agree with H2Ogal; it's never wrong to grieve the loss of something dear, whether it's shimp, fish, your beautiful plants, or anything you've worked so hard on. Good luck on the balance of the clean-up and best wishes for your replacement tank.
Jacki, I know how devastating this was for you. This 60 gallon tank was just so pretty and so healthy. I'm so sorry. What a frantic few minutes you had grabbing buckets, putting them under the torrent of water pouring out, grabbing shrimp and fish, searching for them on the floor. I know you were heroically working as fast as you could, and no doubt crying as you were.
It's amazing you saved as many as you did. It's so hard to find them when they are out of the tank and on the floor, behind things. I've had to do a desperate search for an ADF that hopped out of the tank, but thankfully I did find him and he survived the event. Thankfully, I've never had a tragedy like this terrbile tank failure, but it is my nightmare.
What a great community of good hearted folks! It's so kind of you guys to offer contributions to Jacki's rebuild, and offering helpful info about preventing mold, too. Jacki, I hope you do post a list of things you lost and a wish list for those of us that may have some of what you need; count me in.
I'm so glad you were home and could jump into action the way you did; what a terrible scene it would have been to come home to.
Acrylic tank? I thought those had a sealant basically melt the panes together. I thought those tanks were impossible to have a catastrophic failure on.
