This is a Shocker!!!

We have been in one pet store where - and this is NO LIE - he had a betta in a VOTIVE holder. This store also had dead fish in all tanks, and the guy said he wasn't worried about it, when i asked him. I stated about the bettas needing more space than that, and again he 'wasn't worried' about it. I agreed with my hubby that we will NEVER buy anything living from that store, no matter how healthy the fish looks at the time. All his bettas were in tinier containers than those plastic cups lots of places use. I couldn't believe it!
 
Its carzy how Bettas are shipped in tiny little blue water bags i have seen.. Dumped out on the floor and cut bags open and dunp into little cups with lids.Next on a shelf to sell at Wal-Mart.. then if there lucky they will get into a vase with a plant and its roots taking up all the 1-2 gallons it has to swim in..

Those vases have 3/4 of a gallon at best. There's not much water (or swimming room) left.
 
IMHO
money would be better spent on educating the public than creating laws they can't enforce.
BTW, I spent several years in law enforcement. you will discover many times there are already laws in the books. there are many example of this to meet Political agendas.
 
Unfortunately they -for whatever the reason - don't seem to include aquarium fish when they are talking cruelty to animals. Cats, dogs, and it seems everything else - but not fish.
