Too many water changes a bad thing?

I do daily water changes on grow out tanks. I do 2 weekly water changes of 40-50% on my discus tank.
every once in awhile I do 80% changes on an angel tank:perv: usually as a result of being busy while running the siphon:eek3:.

they do not bother the fish.
 
Daily water change should benefit fishes if done right....

I used to do it once a week, around 30%. Never once every 2 weeks except for that period when I was on vacation. But then again during that period, I didn't feed them, so I didn't really have any nitrate problem. Having healthy plants in the tank also helps.
 
i do 30-50% water canges on my breeding tanks everyday. i used to only do water changes 1 time a week and now that i do it everyday they are breeding like crazy. it used to stress them out a little but now that their used to it they dont mind it at all

LOL If this is the only downside, its safe to say no one really needs to worry about downsides of doing water changes too often... :lol:

Where is all the nitrogen coming from? If you don't put too much nitrogen into the tank (food), then the fish can't produce too much. Fish do not create nitrogen atoms.
 
That small a water change a day is alright.

The problem could be the mollies but the pleco can heft out a quite respectful load itself.

I'd rethink the reason that I wanted the pleco.

I recently put Black Neon's in my tank, first water change with them in there, they see the crap floating up the gravel vac and decide it must be food. Sure enough, I soon see one swimming for his life trying to get out of the vacuum. I quickly pulled the Python out, and thankfully he is fine.

Luckily I was holding the Python, quite often I will be working on another tank while the water is draining from one. It's funny, because all the other fish I have stay away from the Python, Black Neon's on the other hand think its some kind of magical food generating machine.

40-50% WC weekly on all of my tanks. I would probably do it twice a week if I had more time.
