Total tear down and rebuild: 37g

Cute angel, I can see why you couldn't resist! Plants look nice too.

Keep checking your petsmart if you want more $1 black neons, if it's not too far away (or call). They only get a set amount as the older order sells out, ie 12 of a species. So if you got the last 9 next week more will come in. They may also give you a raincheck.

Keep checking ammonia, that's a lot of fish to add at 1 time. If daily WCs are not doable, you can add Prime daily to keep it & nitrite under .25ppm, your plants should help. Any of either can damage gills etc long term. Good luck! Keep the pics coming.

I don't use any water conditioner at all for my tanks. I have pure well water and been using it for years never having an issue. I normally only add 6 at a time but couldn't resist the urge. I had 6 black neons in another tank caught 4 and put them with the others. Going to catch the last two and put them with the rest.

There is no nitrite so the ammonia is converting directly into nitrate, which is good. I'll do another w/c in the morning.

They all ate last night and this afternoon. So I do know they are fine and seem happy in their new home. The angel isn't hiding and is eating, good sign. Normally when angels are in a new tank they don't eat and hide for a few days. This one is out and about. The tetras are swimming all over and show no signs of stress same goes with the cherry barbs. Clearly they seem safe and comfy in the tank. I'll keep an eye on them and on the ammonia.

I think the general rule is 6 that's what I've always done if your tank can handle it. They are a lot more happy and fun to look at when in a group. I've personally always loved the panda corys they are great looking fish. But then again I'm more of a Brochis man haha.
