"true" schooling fish

wow. I didn't expect a huge argument to arise out of this question...
My plan is for lots of neons, a ram or two, shrimpies and my guppy.

Would rasboras fit with the above list?

I'll decide between some cories (most likely), more guppies, hatchets or possibly rasboras if I can.

No worries....there's no argument here....and yes, many rasboras are excellent community fish and many school, some more than others. I have never kept Rasbora einthovenii, the brilliant rasbora, but they grow to over 3 inches and are probably not the best choice for your tank size, if you want a group of them. Another rasbora I have had is Rasbora borapetensis, the Red-Tailed Rasbora. They tend to school pretty well and only hit about 2 inches. Now Harlequins are probably one of my favorite fish of all time, but, in my experience, they only school occasionally and fairly loosely. Again, it's hard to predict what a fish that might school will do in a 30 inch long tank. Your mileage may vary. However, with many of the suggested fish throughout this thread, even if they don't school, your worst case scenario is that you will have a lively tank with some really nice, colorful fish. You can't lose!
