I remember you had lots of tanks, Steph, & you pretty discus avatar. Let us know what you decide for lights etc. I'm sort of in the market for LEDs myself & I'd prefer inexpensive ;)

Start a thread... I'm sure someone around here will be willing to spend your money.. :)

I think I have made my mind up on one for a new tank . - http://www.fzaqua.com/chihiros-wrgb-serial-aquarium-led-light-for-12-51inch-tanks-p2241877.html

There are cheaper and more expensive options too.

Thanks a bunch, dougall, now what the heck is CMD4? I see a smart phone & think this is not for me, lol! At least it's not the $1000 lights I think you or someone from my club suggested in PMs :) speaking of spending others money! Gee whiz...I'll see what shop light Steph comes up with...& I will start a thread soonish...

As usual, you did help dougall, but all I saw was $1000 in lighting alone, lol. You & your salt set ups...& I presume smart phone apps...I'm just not there ( flip phone luddite).

Smart phones are good things (or tablets) when it comes to controlling aquarium stuff.. even as simple as wifi based timers .

The $1000 of lights would be for a freshwater planted tank . SW would depend on what was being stocked

(And only window shopping.. not necessarily likely to buy)

This is what I bought. It seemed middle of the road price wise. Still in the box though...:(
I have no direct experience with this light, but my understanding is that it is pretty compatible with the first edition of the finnex planted+ 24/7.

I had it over a standard 36" 30g tank.. and it grew maybe low to mud light plants. Mine personally was full of crypts. So if you want low light plants you should be good.. if you want to try something mid level it should work ok too.

I loved the color of the light, my issue was if I had it in 24 hour mode, it never went truly out.

I think that's all I can say. I replaced with a Fluval 3.0 just so it would go all the way out. As the aquarium is in the bedroom, I prefer the color of the finnex.

I've seen the 24/7 lights & also have issue with them never going all the way dark. Let us know how these work for you, Steph...the price is certainly right!
