Two fantail goldfish separated due to chasing

yes,you can run the filter.you do not want to run carbon though. which brand test kit do you have?make sure you are doing them correctly.let me know what kind you have and perhaps i can help.

hope you and your daughter have a speedy recovery. and spot too.

The filter is running. The test is called API (Aquarium Pharmaceuticals), Freshwater Master Test Kit.

Before my hubby got cancer, we adopted 2 special needs newborns. We had planned on one child but birth mom got pregnant again and we got baby sister in 2003. So when I was doing the test, I was feeling sick and my little girl was pestering me to let her do it. In short, I will retest as I clearly messed it up.
This time the ammonia was yellow, 0ppm. Nitrates 0ppm, (light yellow). I am certain I did it right this time. Spots looks no better.

Spots is showing signs of improvement. The hospital tank developed a white substance on the air stone, filter intake, and the sides of the tank, so a couple of days ago I cleaned it out, no soap, just a clean cloth. I continue the Maracyn2 and water changes. Feeling hopeful for Spots.

I meant to tell you that about 5 days ago, there was a filmy white substance on the air stone and the walls and floor of the tank. I cleaned the hospital tank with a clean cloth and water. I'm not sure what it was. It looked a bit like dissolved tissue paper. Spots continues to improve. I'm following directions as diligently as I am able to. You are very kind to help us so much. :goldfish:<thanks from Spots!

the film could be a shedding of his slime coat. is he eating and pooping regularly? sorry i did not answer until now. i was busy with family matters.

He is eating well, though his feedings are light. He appears much, much better, swimming well, asking to be fed. There are still some visible red 'veins in his tail. His eyes and fins are better. I did not see any poop, though I had not thought to look. I intend to clean his tank today, the water is slightly cloudy and the 'white stuff' is present on the filter uptake. I have not see any on his body that looks like shedding.
