Two Tanks Together

The water bridge idea is very interesting hmmmm oh the possibilities!

You could make a bracket shaped pipe that goes up out of the top of one tank, across and down into the other tank.

Think a shape like this ] only horizontal instead of vertical.

If you do canister filters, put the intake in one tank and the outflow in the other. If you do it right, you'll create a flow between the two that will easily join the two tanks. I've seen videos of this being done on youtube if you want to research it.

Why have it going over the top off each tank when you can just bye two tank conectors 4in 5in or 6in etc and some clear pipe and just drill the ends of the tanks and fit them together,

Because a) that requires cutting a big hole in a tank that some people may not be comfortable doing, and b) then you have a permanent hole in the side of a tank. With the water bridge method you're much less likely to break the tank trying to cut a 6" hole in the end, and its completely removable with no permanent effect on the tank.

Until I read this thread, I never even heard of a "water bridge". I don't think we'd be setting one up here but it was really cool looking at pictures of them when I googled it! :)
