Tyler79Durdan's "AC 40" new (to me) tank build thread. 56K pic warning!

Well tonight I was able to sorta sneak the tank in the house while the wife was away. I kinda used our 8 year old daughter as the reason for it being in the house. I said "its great for responsibility, and she'll love it in her room staring at it before bed...

It worked, and now Im trying to figure out how to set this tank up, and not alter the antique dresser it sits on...

Ive made some corner and center "legs" from 1x6 stacked four high and screwed together, then sanded and painted black.

I had to boil the 3/4 tubing that came stock with the filter... to get them on my modified barb's...

I am hoping to have pictures documenting the next steps tomorrow.

You better hope your wife doesn't read these posts. LOL

Unfortunately, my wife reads my TPT posts and has become quite adept at using the search feature.

Aaron, I'm concerned that you're falling behind on your project. It's been five days since your last photo. You need to step it up a bit.

LOL Just kidding buddy. Hope you're well.

Actually, I had to sneak the tank in...

Then I had to acclimate the wife...

Then I had to figure out how to hook this guy up...

Then I had to check for leaks... and take pictures... :)

Ok so, im back on track and on a roll'ish. I at least got it in the house... :)

And BTW... NO LEAKS so far! Yeah!

Looks pretty good so far! Have you devised a plan for attaching your overflow yet? Why the filter in the next room? Sound? Convenience? What about your rock formations... any progress on those yet?

Also, I'm in SW Michigan as well... do you belong to Michiana Aquarium Society, or Southwest Michigan Aq. Soc. ?

I decided against the overflow wall for now... I had to get a move on this build so I could sneak it in the house sooner... The wife wanted me to sell it! :(

The filter is in the closet because of space. I couldn't put it behind the stand, or inside the dresser(without unapproved modifications to the antique dresser), so I put it in the closet.

The rock formations were set out to dry, and after two coats of Quikcrete, my kids decided they wanted to play with it and walk on the "bridges"... HMMMMM, ARGGGGGG...

I do go the Auctions and the last one I was at, was in Plainwell, a month or so ago... and I dont belong to the clubs, because I cant afford the dues $$$

Aw man, that sucks about your "rocks". Are they beyond repair? I hope not. I was really curious to see the outcome.

Looks like i'm a bit further southwest than you. I'm near St. Joseph. Sounds like you might be near Kalamazoo? I haven't attended any SWMAS meetings yet, but I'll be meeting a few folks from the club this weekend, as my club (Michiana Aq. Soc.) are going on our annual bus trip. Usually a few from SWMAS come along. We're going to Milwaukee this year to check out some large LFS' there.
