Uhh is my tank screwed?

I was pretty close to that, Icecubez ... the tank was bowed out an inch or so .. I had to run around like a headless chicken to attach my python and drain it some.

;/

Ive done the same with a, 55 some one told me it would be OK without the center brace so i filled it, didn't check right away but about 2 days later i noticed the tank bowing out a bunch and did one of those run around the house all crazy and gather up all my buckets thing, needless to say if a tank has a center brace, its not just to hold up lights, its there to hold up the tank!!!
Hopefuly somebody can learn from our mistakes/disasters.

i wonder if any one ever had the unfortunate situation in which their tank just gave way to all the water (i.e., exploding outwards or something) either in an already established tank or just setting one up like you are.

how often do defective tanks roll out?

I had an old tank that had been in place a good while. I was generally killing time around the house when I heard a loud crack, then the dreadful gush sound. It was pretty hectic just getting the fish out and into another tank. The tank looked intact until I got everything out and discovered that the entire bottom had cracked and fallen out. Luckily it was just a 10!

yeah, I would definitely bring that tank back. I believe that centerpiece is meant to keep the tank from bowing in the center too. You will see that center piece on tanks 55 gallons and up. If it just "popped off" then there's something seriously wrong with the tank.

Maybe it's a reptile tank and has thinner glass?

I have a 50 gallon that doesn't have the black plastic rim on the top in the back, and no center bow, and I bought it used when it was previously used for reptiles.... mine holds up fine but maybe it wouldn't work if it was a 80 gallon....

I went over there and figured out what went down today.

Apparently they thought they'd pull a fast one on me and gave me the floor model while ordering themselves a brand new tank to display.

The salesperson told me they were ordering it from another store blah blah blah and such but when I went there today the tank I bought wasn't there.

They were in the process of ordering a new one for themselves already so i'm going to get a brand new one ... I'm also going to have a talk with the store manager about being mislead and all that .. i'm rather upset with them ...

I have to drain the tank and take out all the gravel. How am I going to do that? I'm not sure how i'm going to get it all out ...

Also,
I have no place for my Zebra Danio ..
I don't know what i've got to do about that. Unfortunately I think I have to throw them in a BUCKET (!#$) for a couple days ...

I have a 20 gallon but it's stocked like crazy already because of a big fry boom and i think adding six danio to it will be very bad.

=(
This is so dumb.

Use your siphon to get the water out, and scoop out the gravel by hand or cup. You can put the gravel in the bucket with your danios, and the filter. Or go out and buy a rubbermaid type of container for temporary use.

i have too much gravel to put the danio with it ...

i'll put some but the gravel is going to need its own buckets ...

i don't have a filter or a heater small enough for the 5 gallon tank but i guess 80% water changes every day will have to do :\

This is so dumb.

Its the center brace any tank larger then a 29gallon has one drain the tank and take it back !sheesh!
