Ummm, wrong audience...

Well, I'll buy into the "fish feel pain" aspect

Theyre quite far from proving that one. Especially considering all of these 'scientists' that support that notion dont seem to really exist.

Neuroscience's current understanding is that fish do not have the brain development necessary to percieve the feeling of pain.

That's an interesting conclusion, because you can see a fish move away from a stimulis.

:OT: FLK...
Where did you get that awesome smilie??! Too cool! One never knows when one will need a new source for smilies :D

Plants, and even single celled protists like euglena respond to stimuli as well. No indication of pain perception.
Like I said, apologize to your lawn before you cut it...

It's the edger that causes the most pain the destruction! It's strange to see all the other grass around the edged areas point and laugh! How sadistic...

Dang Joe! I almost lost my coffee!

Nursie, the abitlity to feel pain, refered to as nociception in biological circles, is different than the ability to detect a negative stimulus. Different neurological pathways are involved. Your daughter could probably crack out her intro. bio. text for you to help explain it better, it's been years since my last biology or physiology course.

Funny you should mention that, HappyChem...she did have her notes from class out reviewing the info about fish last night. I'll have to ask her about pain in specific.
I gave her my super duper aquarium test kit and told her she was in charge of it for the summer. :D

Doll...FLK didn't answer. Do you think he's planning to join in the war next time?
