I finally got my two 10g tanks up and running. In the first tank i have 6 fancy guppies. 2 male and 4 female. In the other i have 4 julii corys and 2 goldfish (they cycled my tanks and lived so i feel they can stay.):woot:

The goldfish are only about 1.5 in right now. i have a 90g im working on. when any fish outgrow these tanks thats where they will go.

Your tank was already overstocked with just the goldfish.

yepp. most goldfish need a min. 30 gallons each. depending on the species but still, definitely can't be housed in a 10 gallon. get rid of them?

Good to know, although it would be much easier on you and the fish to move them over as soon as possible. Goldies are messy, even at only 1.5", and keeping the params stable in such a small tank is a hard task.

yea. I need to get the water for my tank. My lfs said he would give me about 60g of water so i wont have to cycle so long. Then they go to my 90g. No worries. Thanks for the info.

getting used water shouldn't effect cycling; beneficial bacteria isn't stored in the water column. if you got some media from him though, that'd be a good jump start.

I would just use tap water and transfer over some filter material from your two established tanks to seed the bio-filter in your 90g. The bacteria grow on surfaces such as filter media, decorations, even the glass. Not much free floating in the water though. You will prob need to cycle still, but it will go much faster. When I start a new tank, I seed with seasoned filter media and start with one small fish, but you could use one of the gold fish. Just keep an eye on water params until they stabilize. Or you could go fishless cycle and just add an amonia source.

Peace,
Caleb
