Update on new cichlid tank

k thats it for now. lemme know what you guys think. I know ive got Kennyis, and i think some are Afra????? and electric blue? maybe?

I agree with ibr3ak with the description of species plus on a side note you are going to have a really aggressive tank here in a few months keep an eye on the Acei's the rest of yours will be total terrors..

IMHO, 15hrs. and 40mins. of light period is too much; even if you have natural plants in the tank. Without natural plants, I think 6 to 7 hours of light is enough. Also, I'm worried about the nitrite level that still is in the tank. Is it fully cicled?

at one point it did have plants. didnt last tho. The tanks been running with cichlids for about a month now. It was cycled before and was used for angelfish and gouramis before that.

ill go get a liquid dropper test kit today. been usin sticks. looked at guide again stick is white for nitrites

i do believe i see a few acei in their. everything else though im not sure. looks like some afras too

Fish look nice - they've been ID'd too I think - just search those names and you'll see which is which.

.5 Nitrite is very worrying - get a liquid drop test kit to check properly. You would probably find that Angels & Gourami produce less waste than a shed load of mbuna so things may sill be catching up.

so any suggestions as to lighting times? i would like to run the lighting till about 9 pm. i have a timer so it would just be set and go. and what would be the best lighting to use for this tank?sorry bout all the questions but i have kinda a new found love for this and my daughter and i love the activities the fish portray. Also in a 55 gal with these 13 fish, is a penguin 200 and rena xp2 enough filtration? or do i need to think about adding more and what?

did dropper check. nitrates are at 10 and nitrites are at .3 according to Hagen Nutrafin nitrate and nitrite dropper kits
