Upgrading to Metal Halides

The electricity can get up there. WE calculated with my lighting cycle and all the pumps for the calcium reactor skimmer and closed loop, sump return and the power heads a monthly cost of about $50 on electricity

How big is your setup, gallons/watts?

Is their some actual data that shows the efficiency of both types of lighting in the sizes we commonly use?? My Coralife PC's get hot even with the fans and heat sink design of the enclosure. I also now that two 250 MH's on a 90 can make a small room warm with the AC on!! I'd be very interested in seeing actual numbers instead of seat of the pants comparisons. PLEASE understand that I'm not knocking the comparisons posted here, I've been judging lighting the same way, I'm just looking for actual data.

Gallons is only a 110 with a 20 sump. Above the tank I have nearly 1000Watts. The pumps on top of that. I did the calculations about a year ago just sat down and worked the numbers on it.
