URGENT Help needed please! What is this?! (Photos)

I use salt in all my tanks if need be, they are all very fully planted. No plants ever suffer. Just add a little salt at a time and do w/c a week or 2 later to rid the tank of salt.

It's just amazing that the prolapse has retracted; wonderful news. That was the worst prolapse I've ever seen, and I have seen several.

In my post earlier, I think in one of the links I provided that had suggestions by Kyryah, there's information about using Epsom Salts to help with keeping the intestines moving, which would be good. You want to avoid having any feces in the gut becoming hard and difficult to move. That's why Pinkertd mentioned the nuked english pea, and that is a good idea, but I think Kyryah had experience using the Epsom salts in a case of prolapse.

The link to the Grannylvsfish thread describes her Molly getting better and all she did was keep pristine water conditions and she used a teaspoon of salt per gallon in treating her Molly.

Above all else, I think pristine water is of utmost importance and, too, keeping your fish from being constipated is very important so you might want to feed little bits of nuked, shelled, english pea; soft and mushie, or if you think that a problem with constipation is possible I would consider the Epsom salts as well.

Good job taking care of your little patient. I'm delighted you didn't take my advice and euthanize. I hate to have to do that, myself, and only do it when a fish appears to be suffering and there seems to be little hope of recovery. I'm amazed that that much prolapsed intestinal tissue went back inside that fish. Awesome.

Please keep us posted, pics if possible, too.

Thanks for all of that information and ideas, Mel!

If the angel does get any worse, I'll definitely try epsom salts. Also, I may try the nuked pea.

You're a great help whenever it's needed. I really appreciate that!
I'm not sure if photos are necessary, as the angel looks just like normal. Its behaviour has improved since last night, and overall it's looking healthier. The lump is still gone!

:)
You're so welcome, and thanks for your kind words. I'm pullin' for your little guy. :)

Thanks FA, I didn't see that thread. That is a really a nice thread and I appreciate you mentioning me there. It's nice to see such a thoughtful thread: so many of us have been helped by members of our AC community, I know I certainly have and I appreciate it so much!

I've noticed that you, yourself, are a very helpful and much appreciated member of the community. :)

In fact, I'm gonna go back to that thread and leave my words of appreciation there for the help I've been given, too.

Wow FA that was really something! Glad to hear your angel is better. Sorry I had to learn about that on your fishes account. My tank has been up and running since Sept. and there is so much to learn about these little guys. But we love them and try and do our best. You're a good fishy parent FA, I always read your threads and posts. Hope all stays well!
