USPS Priority shipping?

Some of you are lucky to be able to ship on Saturdays.. Our post office here is only open Monday-Friday and the hours are only 8am-4pm..

I bought some fish from New York and they arrived on the morining of the 4th day. Evey fish was ok and all are still alive a year later..

Usually 3 days from CA to CT; 1-2 days from PA, MA, RI; 3 to SC and 2-3 from Fla. There seems to be no reason or logic to the USPS time frames.

I know a lot of people on here ship fish with flat rate USPS boxes. I shipped a package from NY to CA and it took 5 1/2 days to arrive. When you guys ship fish in flat rate boxes does it normally arrive in 2-3 days or is it often late?

Industrial....you say flat rate USPS boxes. Is that what you really mean? Because if so, flat rate doesn't move exactly the same as priority USPS boxes (like the 7x7x6 which is commonly used). And the only flat rate boxes I've seen are not very deep, not deep enough to put a fish shipping bag into it.

If you shipped priority and it took 5 1/2 days, that's an exception rather than the norm. I've shipped all over the country and I think there's only one person who happens to live in nowhereville, NC, where it takes an extra day or two for packages to get to;)

If you're going to ship fish or plants or whatever from time to time, you need to ask your post office what time they send their trucks to the next postal location. Here where I live it is rural. One truck a day goes from my post office to the next sorting facility which is an hour away. I also happen to work across from that next sorting facility and it's in a fairly large area, much more volume mail, so their trucks leave at 1:00 and 5:00 before the post office closes. Now stuff still moves through this sort facility after 5:00 so if I ship from my home town, it's not going to get to the sorting facility until 6 and probably get processed somewhere between 6 and 10PM. Then on to the next sorting facility which for me is Kearny, NJ, then from there on to the plane. You may have taken your package to the PO after their daily truck left, which means it sat overnight not going anywhere until whatever time the next day their regular truck leaves. All my california packages get there in 3 days from NJ.

They actually make a more squared medium flat rate box (11"x8.5"x5.5"), I had to order mine directly from USPS. The ones that come in the variety pack are the flat ones, which are useless for fish shipments.

They are nice if you are planning to stuff a bunch of bags in there, but most of the orders i get are small so I use the 7x7x6 and ship by weight.

I use the 11x8.5x5.5 from USPS. They say flat rate priority. When my package was shipped, it was before noon on Monday and by Tuesday night it had already left Rochester and was scheduled to arrive Wednesday. Then from Tuesday night until Saturday evening I had no updates and it still said it was supposed to arrive Wednesday. According to the tracking info, it took 4 and a half days to get from Rochester, NY to Palmdale, CA. That is what threw me off.

Haha! I never thought you'd find that post! You're just too funny. It's probably beautiful out in your neck of the woods.....just takes a while to get to it!;)

I shipped a box of baby plecos out to Washington State one time and even though I also ask my customers to make sure their address in PayPal is correct, this person apparently didn't update their address. The box left priority on a Monday.....went to Washington State....no such address.....they were back to me that Friday and back in the tank they went. I thought that was pretty unbelievable. And their ride back home was free, I only paid for a one-way ticket!
