Very Disappointed

in additon to the boards defense, people may read your post and the responses given and feel they are either being worked on or agree with the posts that are already posted. It's just not feasible to post "yeah, I agree with fishy".....

Onto my opinion of the problem. Choosing tiger babrbs (IME) is always a tough thing to do. They are tenacious little buggers and often go through a hierarchy type deal when placed in a tank. The strongest one will fight like a demon to keep as the number 1 spot. Then work on down the school. You can add more to the school to alleviate some of this but as suggested, that might turn into an overstocking issue. The fish having cloudy eyes is indicative of a lowered immune system, then cloudy eyes was sparked probably from moving the fish from the LFS which may have been less than sanitary, to yolur tank which sounds as if it is up to par as far as water changing and things like that.

I'm sorry for your loss CCSR, I really am-- but get real!

In reading your original post, it seems a lot of people tried to give you answers to the best of their ability. It's not the fault of the forum that the people online at the time of your problem didn't have a solution for you. There are no guarantees when you join an internet fish forum, I'm afraid.

Although blaming others is a natural response to grief, accusing members of not wanting to help is unfair. And threatening to leave a forum because you didn't get the answer you needed is a rather juvenile response, don't you think? When you posted, people listened, they responded, they tried. That's really all you can expect.

Again, sorry for your loss.

My last post on that thread was completely ignored. It's answers like yours that make my frustration even greater -- as I said, and AGAIN mentioned on my second post above is that, no, I wasn't looking for miracles, instead with advice of something I could do. The responses I have told me what the problem might be -- no one offered a possible solution (and for a long time I was debating if I should buy a smaller tank to transfer him to that, or if it was just going to add to his stress, as he would have no place to hide). I wouldn't just sit around waiting for any of my other pets to die, don't like to do the same with fish, just because they're smaller. I came here for help, and here you are saying I shouldn't have expected help from the forum? I never blamed anyone for the death (did you read everything I wrote?) but didn't like standing by watching him starve himself to death and not being able to do something, anything, to at least try to make it better. It might not have worked, but at least I had the option of trying something :(

So my "juvenile" reaction is to do with that -- if a posting gets ignored, then why should I post again? It took a post complaining about this to get people to reply to me. And I'm not complaining about the ones who didn't know what to do, but you're telling me that the over 100 views to my post, not one person had any ideas of something I could try to do?? Being a newbie, who doesn't know anyone else who has fish, it's not like I can make a educated decision on what to do, so I went with my two options -- search online like crazy and post here...

I have had a lot of threads with no replies/few replies. This is a very busy site and some people just don't have the time to post, only read at certain times. If someone doesn't have any suggestions, then normally they don't post. I know that's how I am anyway. This is a forum - a community - online. This reminds me of children...just because you want something or expect something, doesn't mean you're going to get it. I know there's been times when we call every pet store around to get their opinions also...

bottom line.... sorry you feel so insulted/ignored, CCSR however, good luck in your future endeavors of fish-keeping/board searching.

my opinion is that you will see that most boards work the same.

I really can't say why more people didn't respond to your original post CCSR. Maybe your title wasn't dynamic enough. Or maybe people didn't think your problem was very serious--a hiding fish is a pretty common occurrence, especially when first introduced to a tank. Or maybe they were busy helping OTHER people with fish problems.

The vibe I'm getting from your post is that you believe your problems to be of greatest importance, and that anyone who doesn't attempt to solve your problems is intentionally being mean, or is ignoring you. You are one of many, and not everything is about you. Please don't be paranoid. Perhaps we can help you with your next problem.

another thing regarding how many people looked at your post.
you can get the same person viewing the post several times to see the responces as they also may want to find out the answer.
also everytime you view the post this also adds to the views.
again sorry your fish died and hopefully we can help in future.

I think I saw your post on my 1st or 2nd day here. And I can understand how you felt. You have a fish that was in distress. Someone suggested you quarntine your fish. I can really understand the dilema you felt. You don't want to make things worse, I faced the same thing myself. I'm sure if someone asked what would you do to save your fish your answer would be "Anything". The problem with stressed, sick fish is you have kinda ask yourself the question how do you want your fish to die? Do you want your fish to maybe die in quartine or in the regular tank? Do you want your fish to die in ammonia water, or die from stress of Old tank syndrome? If you do nothing there's a good chance the fish isn't going to make it, if you try to fix it, the fish still might die. It's unfortunate that's just the way it goes. Best of luck in your future experiences.

Get over it and move on This is one of the best sites in my opinion if you dont get a reply its usually because someone reads it and agrees with the reply so no further action is needed. That is what I do when I look at a question and it has been replied to and there is nothing more to say. Im sure if you go some where else there will not be as many knowledgeable people Wanting to help and you may have to wait longer for a response so just chill out and calm down its not the end of the world believe me if we could help you further we would have I think the advise given was the best and most anyone could of given, given the situation. Also next time try starting a new post for a new question you will get a better response.

honestly, just because you dont get any posts in your thread does not by any circumstance mean that this is a bad site. did you ever stop and think that mmaybe the people that looked at your thread had no experience with this type of thing? would you want replys from people with no experience? no you wouldnt. so just think that after reading your post the people thought "i dont know how to answer since i have never had this problem" and so they dont post.
you might also want to consider that the people with lots of experience on this were not there while you were, and the thread was shoved to the next page because other people were posting new threads.
