I'm confused, what would the program offer? You say it would "allow people to visit all their favorite message boards in a simple program rather than having to use internet explorer." But, for me, IE (or in my case Mozilla/Firefox) is simple. So far all I can imagine is a redundant program rather than smoething that simplifies my life. So, if you could possibly expound on what exactly would be simpler than right clicking a favorites bar, popping all of my normal messageboards up in tabs and then reading and posting, please hlp me understand why this is necessary. Not trying to be a PITA here, just honestly not understanding where the ened comes from.

I also use firefox and know exactly what you mean about loading them all in tabs. Granted this program would not be for everybody, but im coding it for my personal use and wanted to see if anybody else would be interested in it. Basically the concept is all your forums would in a treeview control on the left. Allowing quicker navigation espically when you have 4-5 boards. Heres a picture of the concept.

Other features that i think would be nice would be to have ONE central place for private messages. Instead of having to check each forum, the program would list all the private messages recieved on all boards.

Like i said, i know this idea would not be for everybody but i think message boards can be navigated easier inside a program then through internet explorer because you have the ability to link them all together into one.

Im an admin and mod on about 5 sites, plus i own one, will you be able to get around different boards, like vb, phpbb, invision power ect?

This is one of the biggest problems with programming this. The way i plan on tackling this is first have the program try to find out which board is dealing with(most say the board product at the bottom), then parse through the html depending on board and version.

Some boards will have problems with using a generic template to parse it so im planning also on adding the ability to create small addons that allow specific forums to work within the program.

Okay, now I get the concept. I mightactually use a product like that, but likely wouldn't. For now, tabbed browsing is easier for me sinec I usually do a lot of research for many of my posts. I like to CTRL+Tab to other tabs in my browser set up already in google and a few fish sites I use. Still, it could be useful for boards where I just post and don't research too much.

I would be interested. I visit about 10 forums on a very regular basis. Right now between my wife and I, our favorites list is long and a little confusing. Heck, I'd be happy with 2 or more favorites lists so I don't have to scroll through all of her.................stuff!! :soda:

I just use Bookmarks in Mozilla Firefox. Not sure how a 'program' could help out... Maybe if the screen would "window" the Forums???? Naaa, there's no way there'd be a market for that!! :idea2: :D :D

Well, Knife, are you guys using Internet Explorer of some other web browser? I think we can hook you up with his and hers folders for the bookmarks to make it a little easier to navigate. ;)

So how is this going to function? Do you intend to make it so that if you click on an item in the treeview, it will open the browser to that link. Or are you going to have it all contained in a Windows application?

My goal is to contain it all within the program.
Ok...
... I do know that April 1st is coming up.

We all know what "Folders" are and "Favorites", not to mention "windowing"....

So, I'm wondering how a "stand-alone", separate program, could be as quick on updates and refreshes, as the original website 'forums'..

I use FF and tabbed-browsing as well. It works very well and easy to browse between pages, so the progam would have to very well designed. Good luck.
