Wal-mart still sell fish?

the walmart in hastings michigan apparently stopped selling fish there, cuz the tanks were all empty when i went to go get some ammonia test strips. my boyfriend lives in fremont ohio where we bought a betta, more like rescuing the betta. they still have fish, and i wish they didn't. no one is ever there, tanks are filthy, fish look terrible. never wanted to buy a fish from there, but we felt sorry for the bettas, half of them dead or covered in fungus dieing, and saw one that looked like it was still healthy. took a chance and brought red cat home, now he's brightened up and happy in the aquarium. walmart blows big icky chuncks.

I hate you people complaining all the time..Pretty soon, Wal-mart is going to stop selling fish food and stuff like that because all you PETA freaks..

They should stop selling fish. There is no one around to sell the fish or give advice. I watched a cosmetics lady get the fish for the customers. It's really bad.

if they took care of them, then i wouldn't be complaining, but since every walmart, or meijer for that matter, seems to have sick fish in dirty tanks that i ever go to, then they should not sell them. continue to sell fish products but not live animals if they can't properly care for them, or hire anyone with some decent knowledge on fish. don't need to be experts, just basic knowledge like why you can't keep an oscar with small, swallowable fish (if thats a word...lol).

PETA freaks? There is a difference between overreacting and simply reacting strongly to a bad situation..

Ok, if you freak out over a Petco or a local fish store that has some bad fish, that's one thing.. but Walmart is just plain bad with their fish, any strong reaction is fully justified.

It would be like shoving a dog in a box, sitting it on the shelf and only throwing in a handful of dog food for it each day with the once every two week box cleaning. Now, if they did that people would freak.. even the ones who aren't "PETA freaks".

I'm a fisherman.. I love fishing. I hook a live fish and let it swim around with a **** hook running through its guts so I can catch another fish that I behead, gut and eat.. I feel no guilt killing two dozen minnows to catch a single two pound catfish..
I'm definitely not a PETA freak. Many people from this site would say I'm cruel, PETA would like to see someone like me dead (they also hate pet owners of any kind) but even considering my summertime hobbies I still think Walmart is out of line with their fish.. they need to either close them down or hire someone (all they would need is one person to take care of the aquariums) that knows what their doing for each store.

If you don't care about the welfare of the fish, fine.. what about the unsuspecting customers that get ripped off by Walmart? When I first got into the hobby I bought a Pictus from Walmart that ended up killing off my entire aquarium with ich.

and why in God's name do you think this has anything to do with fish food? Every grocery store in this town sells fish food.... ?

I can't believe that people by fish at Walmart let alone anything at Walmart.

I might be opening a can of worms here but they will never get any of my money and they shouldn't get yours. The fact is they keep poor people poor.

Believe it don't believe it, whatever, but Walmart only sells fish because they make money at it. And if there are as many crappy fish dieing there as you all say there are , imagine what they are paying for those fish to still make a profit, and then imagine what the fish vendors are doing to keep there own costs down.

Just don't shop there. Please, at least not for aquarium products. If you want to by cheap furniture and crap that wears out twice as fast and costs 25% less well whatever.

you picked the wrong website to post that in, buddy.

anyways, i agree. ive never seen walmart sell any kind of quality fish, fish food, fish accessory, or anything of the sort. and if they do, its exorbitantly overpriced. there's gotta be some kind of customer feedback area that we can flood with messages and requests for them to stop selling fish

I was wandering throught the fish department at Walmart the other day and I witnessed some Walmart slappy actully drop 3 fish on the floor when trying to put them in a bag for a customer. He picked them up, put them in the bag and handed it to some clueless mulletted sweat pants wearing dad who was there buying fish for his kool-aid stained 5 year old.
