wal mart

Just wait till a Wal-Mart tries to move right into your neighborhood straight across from the elementary school - you'll change your tune then!
I used the really like WM, then one tried to move into our hood. the biggest one yet, used cars, car shop etc.... Well I and about 5 neighborhoods ran them out of town...

Let's see.... automatic 10% rise in crime, violent crime, an additional 9,000 cars a day in our area....Flooding for our area and an area 25 miles south of us that is already flood prone. These are all statistics gathered for a WM in a major metropolitan city, not stuff I made up.
It was to be bigger than the Astrodome and much noisier. I have clips of the nighttime noise around the one in Galveston.... very loud! Truck deliveries at all hours, nightly air blowers run through the parking lot, ect.
Here are two of the many websites about WM affect on the environment and our quality of life.

Yes, WM screws its vendors. My husband has been in retail food sales for 20 years, and all of his associates are telling him they don't do business with WM anymore. They are sick of it! No more vendors, no more items to sell. Two years ago I gave WM 5 years to crash, well I have three years to go!
It will go down fast and hard....

Boy I just love those cheap prices, I GOTTA have em at all costs! ;)

I did not come down on WM because it was popular, I did it to SURVIVE!!!! For my neighborhood to survive!

I don't forsee China quashing us (meaning the west) on a military scale. They won't have to. They can let us do it ourselves economicaly.

Maybe I need to re-think this. Their invasion: cheap goods. Our counter strike: Walmarts :.... :D

Must4ng s4lly, excellent argument backed by valid statistics.
This issue is quite the catch-22. There are certainly pros/cons to having any big-box store move close to your neighourhood. NIMBY (not in my back yard) applies here whereby you'd much rather WM move to the outskirts of a city rather than smack dab in your neighbourhood. I have heard similar facts about WM hard lining their vendors. Indeed, if you or a family member are personally affected by the lowballing tactics used by WM, then it is certainly hard to support the big cheese when you are trying to have your own business survive after yrs. of hard work. The corporations goal is to maximize profit by reducing costs and being efficient as possible. Morality generally isn't regarded as profitable for these corporations however enticing an idea that my appear on paper. It definately is up to the 'majority' of consumers to decide whether or not they will continue to support WM.
Having said that, let's not forget that the Waltons were not always multi-billionnaires. Sam Walton ran quite a few Ben Franklin 5 & Dime retail outlets initially, then finally devised a high volume profitable venture in 1962, Wal-Mart. Considering I know a friend of the family whom has married into the Walton family, I can certainly say that they have a comfortable lifestyle. All the power to them though, as that is the side of the fence that I sit on.

There was a 'test'... And those that knew better, read the test all the way through...

The story as represented above is written as a satire or parody. It is fictitious.

Fair is not an issue for corp.mngt. Wal-Mart has always been successful at negating any unionized efforts, to maintain their profitability. A union is any companies worst nightmare. Some unions are 'fair' negotiators, other unions are flat out 'greedy' at the bargaining table. There may be a long-standing union in the future at WM if the employees garner enough support from polititians and local businesses, yet I doubt that would be successful as WM injects $ into local economies by way of charitable donations and I'm sure allocates generous perks to polititians.

I'm not one much for conspiracy theories, but, the Toronto Star (Canada's largest newspaper) pulled the story about the Jonquiel Quebec Walmart story. Check it out.

..Please --- more Conspiracies!~

Sci-Fi too!!

Hmmm I wonder why Montana wants to levy a special tax on WM because many of its underpaid employees have to use state services and insurance....

WM made us Texans pay for a $83 Million storage space / dist center ... hmmmm intersting how my hubbys co did not get theirs paid for by the state. Same location too. Why does WM get all the tax breaks etc and then cost our state and country so much b/c they can't pay their employees?? Seem like a bad double whammy to me!
