Wanted.....aponogeton bulbs

I tried a pack of bulbs from Petco. Onion plant sprouted 2 or so inches and rotted in about 2 weeks. when I puuled it out, it had no roots. It was planted about 1/4 into gravel. the rest rotted without any sign of life. Man they stank when I took them out of the tank!!!
When I purchased the bulbs they were located in the aquarium section of Wal-Mart. The big plant is putting out 2 new stalks from the base to the water surface about every 3 days. The stalks only live a few days and then they die off and my fish eat the dead parts while the new stalks replace them. It is growing like this with only 1.5wpg and a cheap jungle co2 kit from the local pet store.
I checked the local wallyworld last night, they're stocked out at the moment. The last round of those dried bulbs I tried out mostly ended up as food for the shrimp and snails, though a few did sprout. One grew fairly large, and produced numbers of small bulbs on the ends of stalks. None of them have sprouted yet though, maybe they need to be dried first?The parent plant died off, then started growing again after a couple months of dormancy. (At least I think it was the same plant...) The second time around it hardly grew though, the leaves are only a couple inches long, while the first time they reached to the surface (12"). I do have a couple stray crypt. "Mi Oya" and a small narrow-leaf java fern (4-7" leaves) up for grabs, $5 + shipping, pics are possible if requested.
well one of mine are sprouted and doing good. in 2 days its grown an inch ! the others nothing but I hope something with in the month.
