thus more protein than in the "vegetarian" style :grinyes: better growth and health.
Nevertheless, "algae wafer" is a misnomer for the Hikari product. If you want something for your truly vegetarian fish (bushynose pleco, otos), take the Wardley discs. If we are talking about common plecos who eat a mixed diet, the Hikari fish meal discs might be the right thing. I just want to make sure that you know what you feed.

i thought all plecos were omnivores? i know what i feed my fish, plus if they didnt want it they wouldn't eat it

No, bristlenoses are mostly vegetarian, which you can see from their gut. They will eat a dead fish or a small shrimp once in a while, but they will get sick if their diet doesn't contain mostly vegetarian matter. That's why you feed them blanched vegetables. They will chomp on those fish meal discs, but it's not good for them.

If this logic applied, a diet of chocolate and beer would be healthy.

Well, people have their own opinions and alliances to particular brands. No product flaming war please.

I believe Hikari is a great supplement to fresh veggies because the plecos that I have are omnivores. They also get HBH Super Soft with Spirulina which is an omnivore food...and they love it.

Do I have opinions? Sure. Do I have alliances to particular brands? Not at all. I look at the purpose of the food, at the ingredients listed on the package and decide from there.

In this particular case I have some issues with the name "algae wafer" for the Hikari product, which might mislead people into thinking that the product would contain mostly algae, although algae are in fact only a very minor ingredient. This means, if you are indeed looking for some compact algae product, Hikari "algae wafers" are not what you want.
