What do you use to fill up your tanks? Warm water, or Cold water? I use Cold.

warm...matched to tank temp as close as possible by touch test...don't put cold water into tropical fish tanks, especially if doing the reccomended minimum amount (25% weekly)...change of temps can bring on disease, and either way its just less comfortable; how would you like if someone kicked you straight out of your warm bed into a cold bath ?? :D

Hmm, I see.

I voted warm, but it really depends on the tank and the quantity of water being changed. On my 20 gal, there is enough water volume that a 3-4 gal PWC won't drop the temperature much, so I'll add cold water, but me 3.5 gal tank that a very overstocked quarantine tank gets a 30% change daily, and cold water would drop the tank temperature several degrees, so I use warm water. My 10 gal gets a 20-30% PWC, and I usually use room temperature water...

I think it's a matter of using a temperature that won't shock the fish.

:iagree: with Coler.

Fill up with warm water. Don't do anything fancy to match temp, just judge by feel.

I do the same as areeves-
judge by touch- when I pour the new water in the fishies come play in the "waterfall"---

If I had cold water fish I would use cold water ! :eek3:

If I had Warm Water fish I would use Warm Water ! :eek3:

I try to temp match but sometimes use water a few degrees cooler.
in the overall scheme of things a couple degrees off will not change the water temp very much
and is sometimes associated with triggering spawning.(angelfish and Discus)
