Do I need both GH and KH test kits? I saw a KH kit at a new fish store today, but I thought I called my lfs and they had gh/kg for 10$. The one at the new store was only KH for 4$ I believe. Thoughts?
I have a 20 gallon hexagon tank and my aquarium specialty store said to only change 1/3 of my water once a month. I have 6 zebra danios, 2 rainbow sharks, 2 upside down catfish and 2 black mollys. Is what they are telling me wrong?

I am not going to say it is wrong, it is a matter of what is best for your fish. For example having your water continuously changed 24/7 is the best approch , but is unpractical if your tank is very large, and then there is 50% water changes everyday, this would be the next best thing, but this is also very difficult to maintain. So to get a number somewhere in the middle most people choose the once a week method. I myself change the water on my 50g's one every two days and on my 400g I change 50% twice every week.
I just check the ph on my tap water, it turn out to my supprise to be ph of 7.0-7.2, still I dont know the hardness yet, tomorrow I am getting a tester for that, or maybe saturday waiting on the paycheck.
