Generally people prefer to do a 25% to 33% water-change every 2 weeks. I myself like to go for a larger waterchange less frequently, but I pay closer attention to temperature and pH when I do the ***DO THE FUNKY MONKEY!!!*** larger changes. Some tanks are overstocked, and those should be done perhaps every week or so. It depends on your fish load too.

He is trying to resolve a tank quality issue after an extended period of improper maintenance and has excessively high ammonia levels that could cause severe problems.

Most people due not prefer water changes every 2 weeks.

A larger water change less frequently does not equate to smaller changes more often.

Even if you are not overstocked, the changes should be weekly. More often for specific conditions.

The cure for overstocking is get another tank or lose the fish.

You might want to do some research before offering bad advice.

Please don't take out your anger on me, work it out yourself. Perhaps you could do pushups or count to 10.

And I find it amusing that "you" have spent time on several postings badgering people about bad spelling, and yet you use the word "due" instead of "do".

It's fine you think some people due (sic) not like to change water every other week, but many like to, in due couse (ha ha ha), duly (ha ha again) perform said changes to prevent nitrate build-up.

Please post the badgering you think I have done over improper spelling. I will apologize for it, since I do not believe I ever have.

I am not taking out any anger on you. The OP is trying to solve an issue with his tank. It is improper of you to mislead them with bad advice.

Actually, they are performing the changes to prevent build up of DOCs' and to maintain their TDS to their source water. The pH isn't and shouldn't be a concern at the water change.

I apologize for the mis-spelling of "do" in my earlier post.
