I saw a 290-295 gallon wave front tank at the lfs. I really liked it, it have a real would canopy and cabinet. I thought it was reasonable priced. I think 2800.00 on sale for the tank, cabinet and canopy - no light or glass cover. It did have a wet/dry plumbing drilled though. The guy said he would recommend it for saltwater only. They had some really nice stuff there, tanks/setups costing 10k for hardware? WOW ! They had some really large fish costing several thousand dollars. my question is - the guy said the wave front is an all glass tank..... the glass thickness was at least a half inch. are those types of tanks realiable? will it eventually leak because of the size? The bulkheads in the tank were drilled in the bottom, it had covers and intake/exhaust tubes.... I saw a smaller one running the wet/dry and the water flow was a little noisy. he said you could turn down the water flow if you wanted to. This is something I would have them setup and maintain, it really is not that expensive and they give you a report every week, and normally takes less than 30 minutes. they even bring there own water and take the old water with them. kinda nice. no mess for us.

does anyone have a company service their tanks? if so how much and what do they do.

I was also thinking about a 290-295 and flushing it into the bedroom wall. how much would that weight?

thakns for your time

Just the water would weigh around 2500 pounds. If you had the wet/dry you would also have to add the extra weight of the water that it held. When it was completely filled water, decoration, stand, tank itself, ect,ect you would probably be talking over 3000lbs.

It's a huge tank and a big investment on your part. Like it was above, keep in mind the weight and the power needed to keep it beautiful. If you do get this thing please post pics.

I saw a 95g wave tank at a local Petco.. my future dream tank. Amazon themed, with 2 Oscars. Overfiltered for crystal clear water. Dark and tan gravel. Nice green aesthestics for a more antural look. In a nicely decorated living room of a new condo unit. Next to a big screen TV. On the water somewhere... crud why do I always feel the need to tell other people my fantasies?

Why are you concerned about weight? A 295-gal tank will weigh in excess of 3000 lbs. If you are planning to put in an upstairs room, forget it. Otherwise if you are planning to put a large tank like that down stairs and you have a raised foundation, place it against an exterior wall if you can. You will want to crawl under the house and add some bracing under the floor joists if you place it in the center section of the house. 3000 lbs. in about six feet WILL cause structural damage.

A service contract would take all the fun out of it…Why:huh:

well it's the 2nd floor master. out of the question then.

where do you live so that i can retire off of you holy crap dude

i would have to say that if i ever did that i would slap myself think about the money you can save with a much simpler tank or by doing things your self
i run a tank buisness where i clean and do the kind of stuff they do but not the whole water thing i just let them rent a huge vat from me that i hook a small ro unit to and get the water from that so i dont have to go refill my van all the time it also recycles the water in and out so as it doesnt become stagnant.

but i rape these people i really do they just have no clue that if they just learned some basic things and learned how to do a water change and got some tubing from a hardware store other than stocking i would be out of buisness but im not.

I highly recommend ALOT of reasearch on your part.. learn how everyhitng gets together and how it works.. that way you can save money on a frivilouse trip by the maintenace guys just to plug somthing in.. but like posted above its a big investment.. about 20K for the NICE tank... thats a ranged price that includes everything (rocks sant filter fish lighting)

go to glasscages.com, you can find a tank and stand there for much cheaper, and get it done however you want it. also lights, glass tops, sump tanks, canopies, etc. for less than the price you're looking at there. worth a look, anyway. my 300g this summer will be from them, and my 50g long that i already have is too.
