What are some hardy breeds of tetras??

On further research they do not really look like phantom's.

Or bleeding heart tetras.

I've found Serpaes to be pretty hardy - I've lost a couple of Cardinals to 0.25ppm Nitrite (2 of 8 - at least I think it's the nitrites), so I'd rate them as better than Neons (red/blue ones anyway, black Neons are all doing well in my tank).

I suspect that the mystery tetra is a phantom - they seem to come in both black & red, some w/ clear - some w/ red mini fins between tail & dorsal fins. I have both and they seem to school together nicely (and run from my Serpaes who have 2 black markings and just might find themselves trading places w/ my Pristellas).

Pristellas seem pretty tough too.

It is a Serpae tetra. Anyone know anything about them?

I have six Diamond Tetras and they're really hardy and active. Voracious eaters too. I've seen them snatch food right from my angelfish's mouth!

How are serpae's in a community?

I've had two head-and-tail light tetras since about August 11, 2006, when I put four of them in my first (6-gal) tank. They're still going strong, no more than 1.5" long, as is another H&T I got a while later, and two Black Neon tetras I got in September. They're all so hardy they're getting a wee bit boring ;) ... but they're real characters and seem to know me very well, not afraid at all.
