First of all, this isn't in the cichlid section because I'm wondering if I could get more than 1 dither and which "more than one" I could get.

I am contemplating the stocking of my 90 gallon. I am getting 2 green terrors with the intention of mating them. I know green terrors don't NEED dithers, but I would really love some other fish in the tank as well.

The fish I'm looking as as dithers are convicts, silver dollars, giant danios, and rainbowfish. I really really don't want the fish to be nipped too badly and hope they don't get nipped at all. What fish would be the best dithers and which would get the least nipped and look the best despite the fact that they might get nipped.

I also really would like more than 1 dither fish, so heres what im thinking.

convicts + giant danios
convicts + silver dollars
silver dollars + gaint danios
rainbowfish

Let me know what you think as this is driving me crazy lol. I've been trying to figure this out for like 2 weeks and I think about it 24/7 :hitting:

I have one juvenile green terror and two adult blood parrots together. I'd love to add some silver dollars but have the same concern about nipping. Maybe I'll just wait and see what you do. ha ha!

Dithers is the incorrect term, you're looking for target fish which can withstand the aggression of breeding fish. Dithers are used to draw shy fish out of hiding ;)

I think SD's or giant danios would be fine though. I'd hesitate to add convicts as I do not know how compatible they are.

Id get a pacu.. those seem to be cheaper than silver dollars.. lol.. but to be really honest.. Danios will prob be the best bet.. Those things are super fast.. I used zebra danios as dithers in my discus tank.. they were the only fish that totally brought down agression in my discus community tank.. before them all tank mates were lunch.

Danios are a great dither fish.. they are all over the place and are pretty great for the job. But- I kinda wanna say thats a death sentance man.. I mean you are housing two pretty mean fish.. Id be careful.. and use some big danios..

I think I am going to get 2 silver dollars and 2 silver dollar red hooks. Could I put some danios in there aswell?

Silverdollars would be great! They don't nip. I have reg silverdollars and redhook silverdollars! They are cool!

I agree, silver dollars are great fish and really neat when their shiny bodies reflect light.. like little round light bulbs. And I don't see why you couldn't keep giant danios with them.

so silver dollars, giant danios, and green terrors?
Sounds good..
if your buying redhooks make sure you get some that look like this:
local fish stores will sell you reg silverdollars as redhooks because of the orange.
