On January 10th I was diagnosed with diabetes. Looks like my pear shape needs to go. The doctor told me the 40/40 rule. If you are over 40 and have over a 40 inch tummy, you will have health issues. I never took any of the weight stuff serious and now I have diabetes.
I have never been a fitness oriented person. I did not see a reason to run, unless someone or something was chasing you. Now I have started running/walking on a tread mill. I am attempting to do it every day. I have lost about 20 lbs since January, but I have lots more to go. I am not doing any crazy diets, just eating better and I have started the treadmill. I have never been fit, even when I played baseball and soccer. The only sport I play now is bowling, I am in great shape to bowl, like a pin. Bowling is not much of a physical activity at all.
I think I might want to lift weights, but am not sure if I want to buy a set or join a gym. I already had the treadmill, the wife wanted one a few years back, it is as good as new! I really do not think I will go to a gym on a regular basis, but unsure about doing it on my own. I might think about a personal trainer. I want to be more regular on the treadmill before I go off and do something drastic.
Then again, I really have no choice but to lose weight. Is a personal trainer a good idea? Is joining a gym better than doing it at home?
