My wife has had a 55 gallon tank going with Cichlids in it. I am kind of tired of them and I am an avid bass fisherman. I would like to catch 2 real small bass(4-5") and put them in the tank(after returning the cichlids).

What water levels (ph,alc., etc etc) would i need for the bass to survive. I don't want to just dump them in and cross my fingers. What other things do i need to worry about. What water temp that sort of thing.

Any help would be great.

they won't need a heater either. i would aclimate them slowly. maybe try the drip method, so make sure to bring a couple buckets of the water you got them from home with you. i would try not to mess with the ph and all that stuff, just get them used to what you have available to you by doing a slow acclimitization.
the only thing is that once you have a fish captive and keep it as a pet you can't release it back into the wild. also getting it to adjust to flake food as opposed to live. i'm not sure how that works.
sounds like a fun project though. i love to see native species tanks.

just make sure ts legal to do this

of course if fishing is allowed, where ever he fishes
its legal... alive or dead, his choice

i preferr my bass fish battered :D

Check with Fish and Game. What maybe legal to catch and eat, may not legally to keep and raise.

not sure where he is .. but here in SC if you have a large enough pond the county will come out and stock it for you

Even if Bass survive in your tap, which most likely they would, if your fishing near your home. But a 55gal is not really a suitable home to for 2 bass, you would need to plan on buying a much larger aquarium if you really care for the well-being of the fish.

Well they problem your going to run into with a 55g and two bass, Is two dead bass, Besides in nature a bass catches one fish to eat statisticly every 3 days, so if you feed them every day you are already speeding up the growth of a fish that would already out grow a 55g in about 5 months. If you want to do this then go ahead, I'm just warning you your going to need a 250g very, very soon.

You'll find that Bass are incredably hardy, they can take a lot of change and still thrive (had one). Check your locak lakes andd ask if Bass are planted. If so find out where the nursey is and ask them for one or two small fish. If you do have to go Hook & Line be sure to use barbless hooks. BTW they will eat anything they can fit in their mouths. Shrimp, crayfish, feeder golds, baby mice.
