i am just wondering on my rental agree ment it says no pets like birds reptile aracnids mammles, amphibians
is a fish any of these from my research a fish it a is a poikilothermic (cold-blooded) water-dwelling vertebrate with gills

The closest thing to a fish on that list is an amphibian which would be a newt or salamander or frog. Your best bet would be to simply ask the landlord. You dont want to get booted from your home just for a fish tank. They probably allow them if they are under a certain size. Larger sizes cause to much of a weight strain on the floor.

well there are other people in the place that have tanks so im not too concerned about it its just that it says no animals and a fish isnt an animal

Fish are not animals??? Are they flora then and not fauna?????

:thud:

Fish are most definitely animals.

If you don't want to get into the biology of it, think of it in terms of semantics instead. Anything living MUST be classified as either a plant or an animal, and since fish are quite obviously not plants, they must, by the process of elimination (:P), be animals.

I've actually had this argument with SEVERAL people before. >_<

Fish are indeed animals, and some landlords have more of a problem with fish because of the weight of the tanks and possibility of water damage in the event that something bad would happen. I wouldn't move into someplace that has that kind of "no pet" policy.
Just my 2 cents.

fish are scientifically animals, but they don't usually count in legal terms. they cannot excape their tank and get loose in your appartment and leave poop around and chew on wiring, etc. if they get out of their tank, they die.....therefore, usually fish are allowed under "no animal" agreements, though you may be limited by the size of the tank you can have.

i'm not supposed to have any "animals" in my rental agreement, but when i asked about hermit crabs, which stay in a tank, the landlord was just like "Oh yeah, those are fine. that just means kitties and puppies and things like that"
