My fear with the pleco is several years ago I got a beautiful little pleco for my goldfish tank. The tank was so full of algae I figured he would be fine in there and he was for a few weeks. Went on vacation for a weekend and came home to find him dead. I was so unhappy I took him (dead) to the fish store to try finding out what happened and they said he was under fed. I couldnt believe it with all the algae! Im thinking he was so small (Im talking teenie tiny) he didnt have his feeding skills down yet but honestly I dont know. My kids tend to grow very attached to plecos. They are so funky looking they just love them. My albino pleco in with my betta does great but hes the only one Ive been brave enough to get so far. I watch him like a hawk to make sure hes pooping so I know hes eating. Gross I know lol. I had mentioned to my husband last night about a cory and apparently hes on his way home with one now. The fish store guy told him to start with one and see how it does in a week. If its ok add in one more a week until we have 4. Not sure if thats the way I would have done it but ok. Now my question is this. To be a group they have to be the exact same species of cory yes? I doubt my husband asked its type so unless its albino Im going to have no idea. If I post a pic can someone tell me so I can make certain to get more of the same kind or will a mixed group work? I say this because I have 2 zebra and 1 pearl danio. The pearl seems quite bored being the only pearl but I cant for the life of me find another. She does group up with the zebras sometimes but more often than not she is alone. I have a few local fish stores keeping eyes out for another for me. Hopefully soon. Im excited to meet my new cory though!
