What is this stuff?

hmmm.... so today, I take a look, and now it seems as if the hairy stuff is turning back to its original colour.

perhaps now im lacking other nutrients for thep lants to consume, and the algae is beating the plants to it again.

I have witnessed beard algae turn bright apple red shortly after bleaching. The red didn't completely die. So there seems to be a fine line between merely stressed algae and dead algae. The chemical exposer either wasn't long enough or strong enough. Dead algae will quickly turn white and it will be obvious that it will not be returning.

turn white? the stuff was already white to begin with, it turned red, and now is going back to white again .... I think

this stuff is a pain thats for sure.

Hi
had the same in my tank. bought all kind of algae eating species, but the long fibred algae did not disappear.
then read about fertilizing my tank. i experimented with different doses and kinds of. today my tank is free from this kind of algae. my plants grow like weed... try it.

it has now gone from all red, to all white again.

along with melafix and pimafix for the fish/tank, I added some excel, as i have been, every other day, and some bigals plant food... I will see what happens in the next couple of days with the plants and algae.
