What is wrong with my betta, Merric? :'(

Hi guys, :'(


My betta fish Merric is not doing good.
Dont know what is wrong with him. Suddenly today he started hanging out behind the intake tube. He's bloated, was more grayish and brown, tilting to the side, he's eyes were also popping out a little bit.

I know you are familiar with fishes and a member here for a good time.

My first impressions, lower the water level for more surface agitation. And it could be the camera, but the water looks cloudy to me and a lot of debris on the sponge.

I would take an ammonia and nitrate reading, do a 50% water change and clean that sponge, and test again.

Any food changes lately?

I agree with Bob.You might try feeding him a small speck (bite size) or 2 of thawed frozen pea for a few days for the bloating, but no other food. But pop-eye is usually bacterial...it may clear up with frequent water changes, every day or 2. That can really help. Good luck!
