what is your favorite dog breed?

one thing bad about akitas - they shed n shed n shed n shed! it's like desert storm if you don't stay on top of them! then when they get wet in the rain, it's a pain to dry them off - they can smell mighty strong!

but shampooing ours is ok, she stays put even with the scrubbing/shampooing all over tho she has tickle/sensitive spots.

otherwise, a wonderful dog - who rarely barks, that's a pleasure!

now the Q? is where did everyone get their pooch(es)?

we got our pure bred akita from whom we thought was reputable breeder but turned out they were just in it to make money & didn't care about maintaining the standards. mine you though we are quite happy with our pooch.

or should I make this a separate thread?
 
My 2 St. Bernards came from breeders, 2 different ones and the doberman came from a rescue group. She was found as a stray running thru the streets of the city. I have to say, whoever she got away from or was dumped by, really lost an absolute gem of a dog.Her training is superior to any training I have ever encountered.
 
All my animals with the exception of the fish came from the pound, or were being given up by their owners. Actually even some of the fish were taken from people who wanted to get rid of them.

I like most working-type dogs, but far and away my favorite is the rough-coated collie.

My shepard/chow mix is a rescue that I inherited from my aged aunt. He's a real sweetie, but we've got to work on synchronizing our sleeping schedules! Oi!!!
