What makes the Magnum filters good?

Anyway I sent the following email to Marineland corporate:

Dear sir/ma'am quite a few people who use the Magnum 350 have been discussing the wish for return of the tank bracket as an optional item. As baby boomers get older an HOB canister bigger then the Hot mag is a wished for item. The Mag 350 fits the bill with its once included plastic HOB hanger. I believe since Marineland retains the plans to manufacture the original Mag 350 HOB hanger, it would be a great opportunity for someone to present the idea at the next staff meeting as an easy to manufacture already developed part that may have new demand. Certainly every Mag 350 owner would be interested in having one at reasonable cost which would completely transform the floor product into a easy to access removable large capacity canister. Please advise as I represent many who have discussed great interest in this once offered option.
Very Respectfully,

Hello George,

Thank you for your feedback. I have forwarded your email along to our
marketing team.

Sincerely,

Marineland

Sense your going with plants.
I do weekly water changes. So while doing that. I'd take the 250 apart, rinse the container w/Matrix still in it, in tank water. And blast the sleeve with the garden hose. And call it another week.

This won't take but a couple of minutes, once you've done it a few times.

I change out 10 gallons once a week and have gotten in the habit of completely tearing down the 250 every time. So I am getting really good at it. I am not sure that I am doing everything in that crazy diagram you posted but it seems to be good enough.

I think my next task with the 250 will be figuring out how to rig up a spray bar to it. Why the heck hasn't Marineland made more accessories for these beasts???

Maybe gunner will bring that up for their next meeting? :naughty: hint hint. ;)

The best thing I would recommend, sense you have a 250 available, is...

See if you can get a peice of pvc that fits the INTAKE tube.

If this is available. Get another Intake. Maybe cut it off shorter?
PVC L bow into stright pvc with an end cap.
Drill holes in the stright part.
Paint with Krylon.
Then post pics with explanations. :)

I'd deffintaley have interest in it!

And yea, with the talk about it lately, I could be looking around, myself, on my next trip to the hardware store.

We all agree that Marinland has hit on something with the Mag 250, It just a bit small or tight and slightly weak. Either they should consider reintroducing the bracket for the Mag350 as an accessory with hard HOB tubes like the 250, Or they should discontinue the 350 and come out with the Hot Mag 400. A much wider (then 250) half moon shape easy fit HOB filter with a powerful 600 GPH, hard in/out flow detachable connectors and auxiliary port for added accessories bio wheels, CO2, exc.

Now all one would have to do is walk up to the tank without bending, quick disconnect the O-ring snap ports and drop off power cord, and carry it to the sink, another aquarium, or the trunk of their car using the carry strap. No more getting on all fours with a flash light, well I mean to remove the filter anyway lol.
