what size tank....?

true if you were to take two identical setups.. accept a 20h and a 20l the long would have a bit more oxygen.. you are correct in that thinking...

but my point is that it isnt substantial enough to make a big enough difference to rule out a 20H... 20H is very beneficial for many species. 20L are more for breeder tanks and heavily planted tanks.... and can possibly house a couple extra small fish simply due to the larger footprint

all-in-all I prefer the Highs over the Longs because they tend to look proportionate, and I like having a bit deeper water

I wasn't ruling out a 20 gallon high. I was just stating that I think a 20 gallon long is better. No need to get your panties in a wad. It does have more horizontal swimming space as well, plus more room for plants. In any case, the fish will live in either just fine.

TY everyone I have taken in all of your posts and actually looking into a 29 gallon used but I am not sure if I should go used. I have before with great sucess on the 2 smaller tanks I got my 5 gallon for free and my 10 with everything for 3 bucks. But this is a 29 gallon, lots more water and lots more $.

here are the 29 gallon specs I was going to purchase, what should I ask this person in regards to buying this tank to know he isn't selling me crap?

Includes light, large canister filter, underground filter, air pumps and hoses, plants and other accessories. Just add gravel and fish and you're good to go. This price is firm @ $50.00 ...excellent deal

Just keep a nylon stocking filled with some gravel in your big tank and whenever you need a seeding of beneficial bacteria for a quick qt tank, you are all set. Just pull out the qt tank, transfer the bag of gravel and you are set

Thanks for this idea. I will do this for sure. I am going to give my brother the 10 gallon I think. He should be happy with that, and will keep the 5 gallon for Q tank. I don't usually plan on getting more fish, like I haven't bought a fish in almost a year. So the fish I have seem to be "lifers" so will the tank get rot around the seams if not used often?

Thanks everyone I really appreciate this help!
