What the heck! This is horrible!

ILOVEBETTAS

It's Cory Lover's cat!
I can't believe it! I'm having a breakdown! I've had my cat for six years, he's the BEST cat ever, he's litter trained and now he's peeing everywhere! There's nothing wrong with him... he acts normal... but he's peeing on everything! I'm pretty much bawling because we're probably giving him away now! What the heck is happening? I CAN'T give him away! My life would be, like, empty without him! I'm so horrified that he would do this! I know I may sound overdramatic or stupid, but I just can't give him away! I would be miserable, and so would he! I clean his cat-box and keep him clean, yet he's peeing on everything!

It happens in old cats sometimes :(. By sometimes, I mean all three of our cats started peeing on the mats when they got old. Did you do something by his litterbox? Anything that could have made him upset? Cats will pee to get your attention that something is wrong. He could also have a bladder problem.

I really feel for you. I couldn't imagine giving a cat away.

Has anything changed? Sometimes they react that way if there has been some sort of change in their world.
Also maybe she is having a bladder problem. We had a dog that started doing that and she had bladder stones.Did surgery and she was her old self again.

Well, we had these workers re-doing our kitchen today, and he was scared I guess... and he just peed. And he's only 6, so he's not so old. We'll have to keep him in the basement and if he does well we can keep him... thankfully... hopefully...

Hopefully it was just the unusual commotion today and he will calm down.Best of luck to you.

Before you do anything as drastic as getting rid of him I would make an appointment with your vet. Urinary tract infections are very common, especially in male cats. Many times when cats are peeing places other than their litter box it is a sign of an infection. If this isn't the case then talk with your vet about anti-depressants. After we put my old guy to sleep (RIP Buddy) my younger female cat freaked out and started to pee everywhere. The vet put her on anti-depressants, did the trick and after a year we weaned her off of them and she's been fine every since. Let us know what ends up happening. Good luck!!

maybe you could set up a couple of litter boxes in different places in your house and just chill with him and calm him down a little bit. if that doesnt help, take him to the vet to check for the urinary tract infection.. or take him to the vet first actually. is he acting normal except for the peeing thing?
