Is it really worth the hastle to preserve the fish, drive to the LFS, haggle over a return, get a new fish, and drive home. With gas being $2+ a gallon it would have to be a pretty expensive fish for me to waste my time.
My lfs is only a few blocks away. Even if im not going out the day it happens, Theres usually a reason to head that direction within 48 hours or so. If for nothing else to look for more stuff to spend money on ;)

:OT: I do all my errands on my motorcycle, unless it involves carrying stuff that's too big or bulky to be strapped on. And even that is pretty open to interpretation LOL :OT:

I always wondered about that, the freezing and all... um, well, probably best not to go into detail and get all graphic - it's a family board after all.

I guess either way would work.

wow , I ride too but I only get about 48 mpg..then again it's 1600 cc's

I actually do the same thin..my bolivian rams last spring..rode home in the saddle bags of my bike...LOL

The LFS I recently purchased fish from recommended freezing the fish and placing TOD on the receipt then return the fish.

I wish my LFS was that close. Actually I don't I would be even more broke than I am now. The LFS I go to is about 45 minutes away, but it's way worth the drive. I also don't think I've ever lost a fish I've bought from there now that I think about it. They have a basement that has twice as many fish as they have in their show area. These fish are QT'ed at least 2-3 weeks before they even get brought to the show area.

No kidding??? A store that QT's fish? That's amazing. I don't care if I had to pass six other LFS's on the way, I would go to that one exclusively.

My LFS, sadly, is quite close by.... and my checkbook balance reflects this...

Yeah the store is amazing They have people that drive down from Canada and up from PA just to get fish. My GF gets a little upset when we go because it usually turns into a 4 or 5 hour trip. Here is their planted monster tank.
The reflection is a 125 coral tank.

Here is a picture of just one pain of the tank there are four total.

I work with 3 different LFS's so i just get the fish on my way home from work. And if need be I just call or bring in my fish within a day or so to get refunds if worth it at all. Sometimes I dont even need the bodys because they know me there.

Is that store in NY? If so, where? I may need to plan a trip!

HOLY COW!! That's in a lfs?? Do they sell anything out of it or is it just a show tank?
That's why their employees wear scuba diving gear :joke:

It's just a show tank. It's amazing to look at the have about a dozen wild angels in it now with hundred of various other schooling fish. They also have a greenhouse in the back of the building where they grow most of the plants they sell. That's why I laugh when I see the "my LFS sucks" threads because mine doesn't :joke:

Also when you talk with an employee they'll give you good advice. I looked at the application one time. It was great it had questions like.
How many tanks do you have running now?
How long have you kept aquariums?
What aquarium fish have you kept?
The list went on and on. It wasn't a standard application like most places use.
